The Capital Clubs Share The Spoils

Athletico Stun Madrid With A Late Equaliser

Athletico had to battle to the end in the Madrid derby to get an equaliser.

Madrid have their goalkeeper Keylor Navas to thank for putting in a fine performance notably keeping out Griezmann's penalty.

Benzema scored his 7th goal of the campaign.

While substitute Luciano Viteo scored in 83rd minute to end what looked liked a glorious night for madrid.

Madrid still remain under Barcelona on league table.

Juve Complete The Job Against Bologna

   Juventus Dispatch Bologna

It seams that the Old Lady's has returned to their sublime form as they kept Bologna at bay.

With Sami Khedira getting on the score sheet on his league debut as the Turin faints cruised to a comfortable 3 1 victory with Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala also getting on the score sheet.

Bayern Ruthless Against Dortmund

Lewandowski And Muller Score Twice In Bayern Rout

The Bavarian giants were in sublime form as they dispatched Borossia Dortmund and ending Thomas Tuchel's unbeaten run in the process.

Muller, Lewandowski and Gotze all got on the score sheet. Aubemeyang scored just before half time but it was not enough to keep Bayern at bay as they repeated the same score line against Wolfsburg 5 1.

Lewandowski scored his 12th goal of the campaign.

Rodgers Relieved Of His Duties

Rodgers claims even if another manager comes in that Liverpool needs time.

Arsenal Run Riot At The Emirates

Arsenal Run Riot At The Emirates

The north London team were in sparkling form this evening as they disembarked Manchester united.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil put the Manchester club to the sword.

The goals came in the first 20 minutes of the game. This defeat was unavoidable as the Manchester faced their first real test.

Arsenal are now second in the league as United drop to third place.

United now go into the international break with a loss for the second time this season.

We hope they can find their form after the international break.

Neymar Hoping To Be On The Ballon d'Or Podium

Neymar Hoping To Be On The Ballon d'Or Podium.

The Brazilian and Barcelona star made it known yesterday that he hopes to make it to the Ballon d'Or podium.

With the 59 man list out and Neymar included one cannot argue that he doesn't deserve a spot there having played an important role to Barcelona's last season treble.

He was quick to make it clear that Messi has already won the award so any other contender would be fighting for the second and third spot.

Having scored over 40 goals in all competitions last season it is understandable why he hopes to be in the top three.

The Rejected Stone Has Now Turned To The Chief Corner Stone

The Rejected Stone Has Now Turned To The Chief Corner Stone.

Juan Mata was ostracized at Chelsea and his quality was not recognized.

Coincidentally while Chelsea is struggling the Spaniard is excelling at Manchester United.

Chelsea form in the last 4 games
They've lost 2, won once and drawn once

While

Juan Mata's form in the last 4 games
He has scored 3 times and assisted 3 times
And in those 4 games united has won all of it.

So the rejected stone has now become the chief corner stone.

United fans would be hoping he continues his sparkling form.

Chelsea On The Brink Of Repeating History

Chelsea On The Brink Of Repeating History.

The last time Chelsea started a campaign as badly as this they were relegated.

The last time Chelsea lost four games in their first eight matches they were relegated.

Take a look at that historical table

The 3 1 defeat to Southampton is Mourinho's heaviest home defeat since 2011 when they lost to Barcelona 3 1.

Note that after 128 years of English football only one team has started as bad as Chelsea and won the league and that is Sunderland 102 years ago.

So let's hope history does no repeat its self.

Mourinho Keeps On Blabbing

Mourinho Claims He Is The Best Manager Chelsea Has Ever Had

Despite Chelsea disastrous campaign, Mourinho still believes he is the best manager Chelsea has ever had.

When asked during the post match conference if he believes if he would be relieved of his duties he said Chelsea would be sacking their best manager of all time.

Do you agree with him, cos me I don't...

The Blues Misery Continues

    Chelsea Battered By Southampton

The reigning champions misery continues as they look to turn their campaign around but can't seem to find that winning formula.

They took the lead early in the game through a Willian free kick but the saints came knocking and got their equaliser just before half time and continued searching for a second and eventually got it and finally added a third to cap off a fine evening.

So we are yet to know where the blues and their managers goes form here.

Barcelona Left In Shambles

Barcelona Left In Confusion As Sevilla Sink                                   Them

The Catalan giants continued to struggle without their star man Lionel Messi as they slumped to an embracing defeat.

Goals from Michael Krohn-Dehli and Vincente Iborra condemned Barcelona to their second defeat in three league games.
Despite Neymar converting a 74th minute penalty, nothing could be done to save the reigning champions.

Barca has now struggled to replicate their last season dominance.  They now hope and pray for Messi to recover very soon.

Fernandinho The Unsung Hero

Fernandinho is kind of the greatest goal machine in Premier League history (Statistic)

Saturday, October 3rd, 2015

Move over, Alan Shearer, you ain’t all that. The Newcastle legend might have scored 260 Premier League goals, but he’s not the most efficient goal machine in the competition’s history.
Step forward, Fernandinho. Yes, the Manchester City midfielder essentially guarantees goals when he steps on to a football pitch. This is despite scoring only 10 goals in 70 league appearances.
Okay, maybe we should redefine what a goal machine is.
The 30-year-old Brazilian clearly plays a role that is pivotal to City scoring goals. As Opta revealed, City score an average 2.5 goals a game when he’s on the pitch.
That’s the most for anyone who has played more than 50 games in the history of the competition. Sure, you could argue that it’s nothing to do with Fernandinho, it’s all a coincidence.
But, then again, there are no coincidences. Fernandinho is clearly a key player for City, one who provides a link between defence and attack, an unsung hero.

Madrid Left In Shock

Real Madrid Left In Shock As Colombia Call-up James
Oct 3, 2015 09:00:00

The Liga side do not understand the decision to include the injured star for World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay with James having not featured for the club since August

Real Madrid are puzzled by James Rodriguez's inclusion in Colombia's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay, with the midfielder still suffering from a thigh injury.

Goal understands that the Madrid camp are surprised that the former Monaco star has been called up by Jose Pekerman although respect the South American nation's right to include the 24-year-old despite him having not played a single minute of domestic football since August 29.

Madrid boss Rafael Benitez revealed on Saturday that James's thigh injury had been aggravated in training, with the midfielder ruled out of Sunday's La Liga derby at Atletico.

Benítez: "@jamesdrodriguez took a knock in training to the area where he was injured. He is unable to play. #RMCity#RMLiga

— Real Madrid C.F. (@realmadriden) October 3, 2015

Indeed, James initially suffered the tear to his left thigh while on international duty with Colombia back on September 9, with the midfielder taken off after 59 minutes of the 1-1 friendly draw with Peru in New Jersey.

And, having lost James to injury in what was a friendly international, Madrid's ire has now been exasperated after finding out that he has now been called up for his national team despite having not featured for his club since August.

The call-up adds to the frustrations of the Liga giants, with Goal understanding that Madrid were unimpressed that James was not suitably protected from the excessive force of the Peruvian players back in the September friendly.

After the last international break, Benitez expressed his anger at the injuries sustained by some of his stars on international duty, with full-back Danilo also sidelined while away with Brazil.

He said: "Players have a lot of games in a single year. Many of them insignificant. The football goverments should compensate the clubs depending on the damage done."

AS Monaco Confirms That They Received A Better Offer For Anthony Martial

AS Monaco received an even bigger offer for Anthony Martial but he wanted Man United move

Friday, October 2nd, 2015

Manchester United fans are already head over heels for Anthony Martial, but they’re going to be inking his name to their foreheads when they hear what Vadim Vasilyev told Marca.
The AS Monaco vice-president revealed that the French club received an even bigger bid for the 19-year-old from another club. But it was one they couldn’t accept.
That’s because Martial had his mind made up. He wanted to complete a personal dream by moving to United and playing at Old Trafford on a biweekly basis.
Speaking to the Spanish media outlet, Vasilyev spilled beans all over the shop: “There was another club that offered even more than United. I will not say how much, but the fixed price, without variables, it was even better. And also they offered us to have him for a further year in Monaco.
“But the boy wanted to go to Manchester, it was his dream. And we let him go with the bonus of 30 million. Had it not been for so much money, he’d have stayed.”
United were the talk of the football world when they made Martial the most expensive teenager of all time by forking out at least £36 million for his signature.
Cue chat about how football has gone mad and what a horrendous plague the transfer market is on our beautiful game. That was before Martial showed up with a truckload of humble pie.
He scored on his debut against Liverpool and has continued to impress, netting four times in six games for the table-topping Red Devils. Quickly becoming a hero to fans, this story will bag the player insane brownie points.

FA Dismisses Carneiro Criticism Of Mourinho Probe

FA dismisses Carneiro criticism of Mourinho probe
Oct 2, 2015 18:43:16

The Portuguese doctor was given the opportunity to contribute to the investigation via her lawyers into sexist abuse, according to the FA, denying her claims to the contrary
The Football Association has rejected former Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro's criticism of their disciplinary process.

On Wednesday, the FA announced it would take no action against Blues manager Jose Mourinho over allegations of sexist abuse relating to a touchline row with Carneiro during the 2-2 Premier League draw against Swansea City on August 8.

Carneiro, who was removed from matchday duties by the club in the aftermath of the incident and subsequently parted company with the club, questioned the FA's investigation in a statement released earlier on Friday.

"I was at no stage requested by the FA to make a statement. I wonder whether this might be the only formal investigation in this country where the evidence of the individuals involved in the incident was not considered relevant," she said.

"Choosing to ignore some of the evidence will surely influence the outcome of the findings."

But English football's governing body responded by saying it had been in contact with Carneiro's lawyers, inviting her to provide evidence.

"We have never received any information or complaint from Dr Carneiro," an FA spokesman said.

"Including in written correspondence with her lawyers, it has been made explicitly clear that if Dr Carneiro had evidence to provide or wished to make a complaint she was more than welcome to do so. That route remains open."

The FA analysed footage of the incident - which stemmed from Carneiro and physiotherapist Jon Fearn entering the field to treat Eden Hazard during the closing stages of a game where Chelsea were already down to 10 men - including audio recordings examined by a Portuguese linguistics expert.

In her statement, Carneiro also accused the FA of failing to seek out her version of events after she was allegedly the subject of abuse from supporters during a match between West Ham and Chelsea in March.

"It is incidents such as these‎ and the lack of support from the football authorities that make it so difficult for women in the game," she added.

Lichtsteiner Undergoes Surgery For Heart Condition

Lichtsteiner undergoes surgery for heart condition
Oct 2, 2015 17:56:08

The Swiss international had breathing difficulties during the Old Lady's draw with Frosinone and is expected to miss a month of football after bring treated for an arrhythmia. Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has been operated on for a heart condition, the club confirmed.

Lichtsteiner was substituted after he complained of respiratory problems during Juve's 1-1 draw with Frosinone on September 23.

The club have revealed that the Switzerland international underwent surgery after being diagnosed with arrhythmia.

"During last week’s match with Frosinone, Stephan Lichtsteiner suffered breathing difficulties due to a benign cardiac arrhythmia (atrial flutter) which later stopped of its own accord," the statement explained.

"Tests and specialist consultancy conducted over the following days suggested surgery to be the best course of action for the defender.

"Dr. Gaita today performed a cardiac ablation operation and Lichtsteiner is expected to return to competitive action within 30 days."

Lichtsteiner's absence is a new blow for the reigning Serie A champions, who are trying to get their season on track after a disappointing start.

Despite winning both Champions League matches against Sevilla and Manchester City, domestic form has not reached expectations and Juve have picked up just five points from their opening six fixtures.

Icardi: I'm No Bad Boy Like Balotelli

Icardi: I'm no bad boy like Balotelli
Oct 2, 2015 17:18:24

The Argentine has been in the headlines as much for his relationship as for his goals, but insisted that he had little in common with the Milan striker
Inter striker Mauro Icardi has rejected comparisons with AC Milan's Mario Balotelli, insisting he's not the "bad boy" people think he is.

The 22-year-old, who was made Inter captain by Roberto Mancini this season, has courted controversy with his off-field behaviour before.

His relationship with Wanda Nara - the ex-wife of former Sampdoria team-mate Maxi Lopez - caused a storm in Italy.

Similarly, Balotelli has been dogged by criticism for his behaviour throughout his career so far, with Milan CEO Adriano Galliani stating the player was on his "last chance" upon his return to San Siro this season, but Icardi says the two are nothing alike.

"In this talk about 'Icardi the bad boy', which people turn into Icardi and Balotelli, I simply don't recognise myself," he told GQ.

"I never hung out with him, I don't know him at all. Zero. And I don't think there are any similarities.

"The fact is that I live in a very normal way, in spite of what people think.

"I know I'm a public figure and I behave accordingly, but I'm not interested in gossip. That's part of other people's lives, not mine.

"I have few friends, because in football everybody goes their own way. You never have the time to create a bond, you always move on too quickly."

Diego Costa Axed From Spain Squad

Chelsea’s Diego Costa cut from Spain squad, Thiago Alcantara returns

Friday, October 2nd, 2015

Vicente Del Bosque named his Spain squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Luxembourg this morning.
Thiago Alcantara, who has now fully recovered from his injury, is recalled, while La Liga player of the month Nolito is also called up.
Chelsea’s Diego Cost, who has had a very poor start to the season, has been cut from the squad.
Juan Mata, who until recently had been a man on the fringes of the squad, is now increasingly looking like a regular, and is being rewarded for his brilliant displays with Manchester United.

Kelechi Iheanacho Back For Manchester City

Kelechi Iheanacho back for Newcastle clash, confirms Pellegrini
Oct 2, 2015 16:04:37

Having missed the Citizens' defeat at White Hart Lane, the Nigerian has been declared fit to face the Magpies on Saturday
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Kelechi Iheanacho is available for selection against Newcastle United on Saturday, and maintained that his team can win without influential skipper Vincent Kompany.

The Nigeria youth international, who has a goal in three Premier League appearances this term, has been nursing a problem that ruled him out of his side’s 4-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Pellegrini has declared his midfielder fully fit, while revealing that Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri and Kompany are out to injury.

"Vincent Kompany, Clichy, Delph, Nasri and Toure are injured. Mangala is on the squad list and so are Kelechi and Bony,” Pellegrini told the club’s website.

"Kompany's calf is still injured - we'll see if he's fit after the international break.

"It's not been a normal situation to have so many injuries - against Sunderland we had 11 injured, then it's been seven or eight. I hope after this break, most of them will be fit.

"I never complain about the players who can't play. I don't think that one name can change the performance of this team. We also win a lot of games without Vincent.

"He's an important player for us of course - we hope we will play again soon of course,” he concluded.

Manchester City are second on the English Premier League log with 15 points from seven games, and could return to the summit should leaders Manchester United falter at Arsenal on Sunday.

Liverpool are mentally weak

Liverpool are mentally weak - Ziegler
Oct 2, 2015 17:18:23

The Anfield club have won just one of their last eight games and the Sion defender says his side were able to capitalise on their fragility on Thursday night
Reto Ziegler believes Liverpool 's mental weakness is to blame for them surrendering a lead to draw 1-1 with  Sion  in Thursday's Europa League clash at Anfield.

Adam Lallana gave Brendan Rodgers' side the lead after just four minutes but Sion responded later in the half through Ebenezer Assifuah to claim a share of the spoils.

Having needed penalties to overcome Carlisle United in the League Cup last week, Liverpool have now won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions, and Sion defender Ziegler confirmed his side were keen to exploit the home side's lack of confidence.

"We were disappointed with the first 15 minutes," he told Uefa.com.

"It was not the best way to begin a game, but after that we were calm on the ball – we didn't just kick it away, we tried to play football. We have quality up front and we showed that.

"We knew if we could put them under pressure and score a goal we'd have a chance, they are a bit weak mentally at the moment."

Ziegler praised head coach Didier Tholot for his tactical approach to the game, adding: "Liverpool have a strong midfield, so the mistake teams make is they try to play through the middle where they are strong.

"Our coach was right – he showed us a lot of videos and Liverpool are always focused in the midfield, so we tried to play down the sides as we have pace and players like Carlitos, who is really strong in one-against-one situations."

Sion now top the group with four points from their opening two games and Ziegler hopes to see Europe sit up and take notice of their performances.

"Our confidence is high but we know it's a really tough group and our opponents know us a bit better now and will respect us more," he said.

Neymar To miss Brazil Qualifiers As CAS Rejects CBF Appeal

Neymar to miss Brazil qualifiers as CAS rejects CBF appeal
Oct 2, 2015 12:56:35

The Selecao will be without their captain for clashes with Chile and Venezuela this month after the court rejected their attempt to overturn their captain's suspension
Brazil will be without captain Neymar for October’s World Cup qualifiers after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected their attempts to overturn his sanction.

The Barcelona forward was hit with a four-match ban following his red card against Colombia in June’s Copa America.

He served half of the suspension by sitting out of Brazil’s remaining matches in that tournament, against Venezuela and Paraguay.

Brazil’s quarter-final elimination to Paraguay left the 23-year-old banned from Brazil’s first two World Cup qualifiers for Russia 2018, against Chile on October 8 and Venezuela on October 13.

However, lawyers from the Brazilian football federation (CBF) have argued that CONMEBOL regulations stipulate the suspension should only apply to future editions of the Copa America.

A decision was expected on Thursday but after a 24-hour delay, CBF officials were notified on Friday that they will indeed be without their captain when they kick off the long road to Russia 2018.

Neymar was originally left out of the 23-man squad this month, and was forced to look on from the bench for much of Brazil's September Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour victories over Costa Rica and USA as the Selecao prepared to form a team without their talisman.

However, coach Dunga confirmed this week that, following the surprise withdrawal of Bayern Munich defender Rafinha, he was leaving the 23rd place in his squad open in the hope that Neymar will be allowed to make an early return.

The five-time world champions are now expected to call up a reserve right-back as cover for Monaco’s Fabinho.

Ronaldo: I've been a bit of a bastard

Ronaldo: I've been a bit of a bastard!
Oct 2, 2015 14:10:00

The Portugal forward apologised to the media as he picked up an award for breaking the club's goalscoring record in the 2-0 Champions League win over Malmo on WednesdayCristiano Ronaldo has apologised for being "a bit of a bastard" to the media at an event to celebrate him equalling Raul's record as Real Madrid's all-time leading goal scorer.

Ronaldo broke Raul's record of 323 goals for the Madrid club with a brace in the 2-0 Champions League win over Malmo on Wednesday.

The double in Sweden also took the former Manchester United forward passed the 500 career goals mark, joining the ranks of prodigious goalscorers such as Gerd Muller and Ferenc Puskas.

But at an event organised by Real, with his team-mates and coaching staff present, Ronaldo chose to thank those that had helped him throughout his career and also apologised for the way he has treated the media recently.

"I am very happy, thanks to my team-mates because without them this would never be possible," Ronaldo said. "Also thanks to all my coaches, [Manuel] Pellegrini, [Jose] Mourinho, [Carlo] Ancelotti, [Rafael] Benitez. They have always helped me, the equipment managers, the physios

"I also thank the media, because I know that lately I've been a little bastard with them, but it's my way of being.

"And my friends, Jorge Mendes and my mother. And the president for this event, Hala Madrid!"

There is some controversy behind the counting of the goal tally, with Ronaldo, the club and newspaper Marca all believing that the former Manchester United attacker has reached 324 goals, but official records suggesting the Portuguese remains on 323 goals, level with Raul.

The disagreement centres on a goal against Real Sociedad in 2010 which looped off Real team-mate Pepe and into the net, with the defender suggesting the goal should be Ronaldo's but official records disputing the claim.

But speaking at the event organised by the club, who have themselves awarded the disputed goal to Ronaldo, the 30-year-old spoke with pride about being associated with players such as Raul and Alfredi Di Stefano.

"For me it is an honour to receive this award, I never imagined when I dressed for the first time this shirt that I would be the best scorer of the team, that could beat my friend Raul and Alfredo Di Stefano," he added.
